This necklace is for anyone who loves flowers, gardening -- or just the ideas of flowers and gardening. It was inspired by a trip to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden this past summer. For it, I selected three pearls, two rubies, and five pieces of rutilated quartz. (The rubies and the quartz were hand knotted on silk thread.) There are also amethysts and two beautiful vintage glass crystal beads suspended onto sterling silver wire. The necklace measures 14 inches but I can adjust the brass chain to any length you desire.
What is that piece in the middle? It could be a fossil, a bird, a strange piece of foliage. I carved it out of wax and had it cast in bronze. I'm not calling this necklace "one-of-a-kind" because I had a mold made of that piece and I might cast it again for something else. But I will not use that piece in a design like this again, so really, it's a one-of-a-kind necklace.
